The Sharadamba Temple at Shringeri is an eighth century sanctuary, established by Sri Adi Shankaracharya. It housed a sandalwood symbol of Shardamba in a standing carriage, which was instated by Adi Shankarachaya until the Vijayanagara rulers and Sri Vidyaranya fixed a situated gold icon of Sri Shardamba in the fourteenth century.

It is accepted that throughout the Muslim intrusion under Malik Kafur, the definitive symbol was demolished. Throughout the Vijayanagara period, a gold statue of Sharadamba in a situated carriage was established here. As of late, a Gopuram was added to this sanctuary. Navaratri or Dusshera festivals are a thousand events here. The Goddess is taken out in parade, and thousands of devotees attend the festival in this temple.
